Chief sanitizer Thee Pluto decided to ditch his signature dreadlocks for a fresh new look that has left him looking much younger than he did before.
Youtube star Thee Pluto, 22, finally shaved his black and blond dreadlocks on Wednesday March 24th, and embraced a totally brand new and more professional look.
His hair is much shorter now, but he has retained his blond-dyed tips.
Fans were shocked by the influencer’s drastic transformation especially since the dreads helped catapult him to fame; not forgetting the loads of attention he attracted from the ladies.
When online folks lamented about how his choice would negatively affect his brand, he reiterated a famous statement, ‘my hair my choice’, suggesting that he can do whatever he feels like with his hair.
Pluto had his own reasons for dropping his locks which he shared with online media personality Nicholas Kioko, soon after leaving Royal African barbershop where he was serviced by @Gifted 254.
Reasons for cutting his dreadlocks
Unlike what many might think, Pluto, whose real name is Robert Ndegwa Kamau, did not make an improptu decision when changing his style.
It was a well-thought process which was mainly centered around his age and career.
One of his main reasons was his religion. Thee Pluto converted to Islam which highly discourages rearing dreads. Reason being that it is hard to maintain dreadlocks as clean as required to be able to perform abolution and pray.
Secondly, Pluto complained that the dreadlocks made him look much older than he really is and was suprised to see how much younger he seems after the big chop.
Thirdly, the model has invested in real Estate and his dreadlocks have been affecting how he interacts with his older clients since many of them have negative notions regarding young people with dreadlocks.
The main one being, they don’t think dreadlocked youth are serious enough to handle such large businesses.
His short hair is more professional and will assist in making a good and lasting first impression.
Lastly, Thee Pluto’s career is growing rapidly, and locks mighy hinder him from receiving more serious deals.
“As you grow up, some roles start to kick in. I have a company called Summer house real estate where I mostly deal with older clients, the age of my mom and dad. And as you know there are no second chances when making a first impression. People mainly remember you by how you look. Now that I’m getting into the field of business more, I need to build trust with clients,” he said.
Despite his change, Thee Pluto does not think that having dreadlocks is bad. He is just interested in enjoying a new look after a long time.
Infact, he has kept his locks safe incase he feels like re-attaching them in the future.
Celebrities who have shaved their dreads recently
Rapper Japesa has followed Pluto’s example and cut his dreads which occupied the lower side of his head.
A few weeks ago, Mwai Kibaki’s grandson Sean also cut off his signature dreads. He is still as handsome as ever, although many ladies did not support the idea.
This was not the first time Sean shaved his locks. Last year, he shaved the sides of his head, leaving locks only in the middle (mohawk style).
